Local & Global Missions Director

01 Role Identity

Title

Local & Global Missions Director

Reports To

Executive Pastor

Ministry Area

Missions — Local Outreach & Global Partnerships

Employment Type

Full-Time

Why this role exists: To steward the church’s witness beyond its walls — mobilizing people to love their city and partnering faithfully with the global church.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” — Acts 1:8 (NIV)

One arc, from the street outside our doors to the ends of the earth — this role stewards both.

02 The Heart of This Role

This role exists so that NorthRock’s generosity doesn’t stop at the property line. You mobilize people to love Aubrey and the surrounding community, and you steward long-term partnerships with the global church — so that living generously becomes a lifestyle the congregation carries, not a program they attend.

03 What You’ll Steward

Ownership at NorthRock is framed as stewardship — you carry these, you don’t merely execute them.

  • Local Outreach & Community Engagement — You steward how NorthRock serves Aubrey and the surrounding area — building relationships with schools, agencies, and neighbors so our presence is known, trusted, and genuinely helpful.

  • Global Partnerships — You steward long-term relationships with missionaries and partner organizations — vetting, communicating, and caring for them — so partnership is mutual and dignifying rather than transactional.

  • Mobilizing & Sending People — You steward the pathway from interest to involvement — teams, trips, training, and follow-through — so people are prepared before they go and shepherded when they return.

  • Missions Resources & Accountability — You steward missions funds and resources with transparency and integrity, so what is given accomplishes what was promised.

04 What Success Looks Like

Measured by transformation and health, not trips taken or dollars sent — the direction we steward toward, not outcomes any one person can guarantee.

  • A church that lives sent — generosity and mission carried into everyday life, not confined to a trip.

  • Partnerships marked by dignity — relationships that honor local leaders rather than override them.

  • People prepared and cared for — those who go are trained beforehand and shepherded afterward.

  • Resources stewarded with integrity — clear accountability for what is given and where it goes.

Living Generously. Relationship over rapid results.

05 Who You Are

These attributes describe a life, not just a skill set.

  • Spiritually anchored — you serve from a life already surrendered, not from wanderlust or duty.

  • Culturally humble — you listen before you lead, honoring what God is already doing through local leaders.

  • Relational — you build trust across cultures, languages, and organizations.

  • Trustworthy — you handle missions funds and partner relationships with transparency.

  • Patient with process — you know real partnership is measured in years, not visits.

Role-specific gifting: cross-cultural experience, strong relational and organizational skill for coordinating teams and travel, and the ability to mobilize people toward sustained involvement.

06 How This Role Relates

Structures serve people. This clarity creates health, not gatekeeping.

  • Reports to: Executive Pastor — you lead missions within the church’s overall direction.

  • Stewards: Missions teams, trip leaders, and outreach volunteers — you recruit, train, and shepherd those who serve locally and globally.

  • Decision pathway: You own the vision and execution of local outreach and global partnerships; church-wide direction and major partnership commitments are set with the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor. When clarity is needed, you have direct relational access — structure never blocks communication.

07 Rhythm & Wellness

The Heart pillar — because staff are part of the mission, not a means to it.

  • The rhythm: Weekday preparation with regular evenings and weekends for outreach, team training, and local serve days, plus periodic domestic and international travel. Travel seasons are planned in advance so family rhythms are protected.

  • The honest word: This is meaningful work that asks for your whole heart — and NorthRock is committed to stewarding your health, your family rhythms, and your growth in return. Burnout is not celebrated here.

We move at the speed of trust. Sustainability before speed.

08 Formation & Growth

The Growth pillar — you’ll be invested in, not just deployed.

  • Regular shepherding and development from the Executive Pastor.

  • Clarity on your gifting and growth through the Heart / Calling / Growth rhythm and the 90-Day Review.

  • Real investment in your leadership over time.

Healthy people build healthy ministry.

09 What We Ask

  • A growing, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear heart for the mission of God, near and far.

  • Demonstrated experience in missions, outreach, or cross-cultural ministry, with the ability to build and sustain partnerships.

  • Strong organizational skill for coordinating teams, travel, budgets, and logistics.

  • Cultural humility, sound judgment with funds and relationships, and full alignment with NorthRock’s mission, values, and culture.
