Family Life Coordinator

01 Role Identity

Title

Family Life Coordinator

Reports To

Executive Pastor (Family Life)

Ministry Area

Family Life — Marriage & Premarital Coaching, ReEngage, Discipleship Classes, Small Groups

Employment Type

Full-Time

Why this role exists: To steward the administrative order, systems, and relational care that make marriage, discipleship, and community ministry possible — so leaders can lead and people can take real next steps.

“But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.” — 1 Corinthians 14:40 (NIV)

This role brings fitting order and care to the systems where marriages, disciples, and community grow.

02 The Heart of This Role

This role exists so the ministries of marriage, discipleship, and community can run with order, clarity, and care — so leaders can lead well and people can take real next steps. You bring both the systems and the relational presence that make Family Life ministry feel clear, excellent, and welcoming.

03 What You’ll Steward

Ownership at NorthRock is framed as stewardship — you carry these, you don’t merely execute them.

  • Marriage & Premarital Coaching Administration — You steward the scheduling, intake, records, follow-up, and communication behind coaching — helping couples complete intake and assessments, and freeing coaches to focus on people.

  • The ReEngage Program & Discipleship Classes — You steward registration, communication, participant tracking, materials, and session readiness for ReEngage and discipleship classes, including related special events.

  • Small Groups Operations — You steward leader communication, group-launch support, calendar coordination, database updates, and ongoing follow-up and training across the Small Group ministry.

  • Smooth Ministry Flow & Events — You steward the schedules, documents, systems, and communication that keep the ministry clear and caring — and you serve at classes, launches, trainings, and gatherings.

04 What Success Looks Like

Measured by transformation and health, not task completion or event count — the direction we steward toward, not outcomes any one person can guarantee.

  • People taking real next steps — couples and participants supported into marriage, discipleship, and community.

  • Leaders freed to lead — coaches and group leaders able to focus on people, not logistics.

  • Ministry that feels clear and welcoming — systems that reduce friction and confusion.

  • Care that reaches people — proactive support so people don’t fall through the cracks.

Clarity creates health. Formation over activity.

05 Who You Are

These attributes describe a life, not just a skill set.

  • Relational — you build genuine connection with couples, coaches, and leaders, cultivating a community where people feel valued and spiritually nurtured.

  • Patient with process — you create order, clarity, and systems that help leaders operate with excellence.

  • Generous — you serve humbly, supporting pastors, leaders, and volunteers so others can thrive.

  • Trustworthy — you handle confidential information with maturity and discretion.

Role-specific gifting: strong organizational and project-management instincts, proactive follow-through, and proficiency with Planning Center, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office — with comfort using appropriate AI tools.

06 How This Role Relates

Structures serve people. This clarity creates health, not gatekeeping.

  • Reports to: Executive Pastor (Family Life) — you bring administrative order to the ministries under this oversight.

  • Stewards: Coaches, group leaders, and volunteers across Marriage, Discipleship, and Small Groups — you support and equip them administratively.

  • Decision pathway: You own the administrative execution and coordination across Family Life ministries; ministry vision and direction sit with the Executive Pastor. When clarity is needed, you have direct relational access — structure never blocks communication.

07 Rhythm & Wellness

The Heart pillar — because staff are part of the mission, not a means to it.

  • The rhythm: Regular office hours, with some evenings or weekends as needed for classes, group launches, coaching schedules, and ministry events.

  • The honest word: This is meaningful work that asks for your whole heart — and NorthRock is committed to stewarding your health, your family rhythms, and your growth in return. Burnout is not celebrated here.

We move at the speed of trust. Sustainability before speed.

08 Formation & Growth

The Growth pillar — you’ll be invested in, not just deployed.

  • Regular shepherding and development from the Executive Pastor (Family Life).

  • Clarity on your gifting and growth through the Heart / Calling / Growth rhythm and the 90-Day Review.

  • Real investment in your leadership over time.

Healthy people build healthy ministry.

09 What We Ask

  • A committed, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, actively living the uncommon, surrendered life that reflects Jesus.

  • Proven experience in an administrative, coordination, or ministry support role, ideally supporting leadership teams in a church or nonprofit.

  • Highly organized and proactive, able to manage multiple projects and events with excellence, and proficient with Planning Center, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office.

  • Discretion with confidential information, successful completion of a background check, and full alignment with NorthRock’s mission, values, and culture.
