01 Role Identity

Title

Kids Ministry Coordinator

Reports To

Kids Ministry Pastors

Ministry Area

NorthRock Kids — birth through grade 5

Employment Type

[Full-Time / Part-Time — to confirm]

Why this role exists: To steward the team, environment, and rhythms that help children encounter Jesus and equip families to disciple at home.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” — Mark 10:14 (NIV)

This role exists to help remove the hindrances — so children can come, belong, and be pointed to Jesus.

02 The Heart of This Role

This role exists so that children are welcomed, cared for, and pointed toward Jesus — Sunday by Sunday. You build the team and shape the environment where that formation can happen, and where parents are supported and equipped as their children’s primary spiritual leaders. Children aren’t the church of tomorrow; they’re the church today, and this role helps them experience that.

03 What You’ll Steward

Ownership at NorthRock is framed as stewardship — you carry these, you don’t merely execute them.

  • The Volunteer Team — You steward the people who make Kids Ministry happen — recruiting, training, scheduling, and caring for volunteers so they can serve from health rather than depletion. You partner with the Kids Ministry Pastors to build a team that is encouraged to grow spiritually as it serves.

  • The Weekend Experience & Child Safety — You steward what families encounter on a Sunday — prepared environments, a secure and welcoming check-in, and classrooms ready before children arrive. Safety is a top priority, and you uphold NorthRock’s policies and procedures with the seriousness they deserve.

  • The Family Discipleship Partnership — You steward the bridge between Sunday and the rest of the week — equipping and encouraging parents as the primary spiritual leaders in their children’s lives, and supporting milestone moments like baby dedication, baptism, and family worship.

  • Ministry Resources & Environments — You steward the supplies, budget, and spaces of Kids Ministry with excellence and accountability, so that resources serve formation, not just function.

04 What Success Looks Like

Measured by transformation and health, not attendance volume — the direction we steward toward, not outcomes any one person can guarantee.

  • Children who are welcomed and cared for — greeted, safe, and helped to feel they belong.

  • Volunteers who are supported and growing — a team that is cared for and invited into spiritual formation.

  • Families who are equipped — parents offered real resources to disciple at home.

  • A ministry that is sustainable — excellence pursued week after week without burnout.

Formation over activity. Health before expansion.

05 Who You Are

These attributes describe a life, not just a skill set.

  • Relational — you help children, parents, and volunteers feel genuinely known.

  • A culture carrier — you help set the warmth and welcome of the weekend.

  • Trustworthy — you carry child safety and ministry resources with integrity.

  • Steady under pressure — you help hold the Sunday rhythm without fraying.

  • A clear communicator — you equip volunteers and parents with clarity, not confusion.

  • Spiritually anchored — you serve from your own walk with Jesus, not just your role.

Role-specific gifting: strong organizational instincts, a genuine heart for children and families, and the ability to hold many moving parts with excellence.

06 How This Role Relates

Structures serve people. This clarity creates health, not gatekeeping.

  • Reports to: Kids Ministry Pastors — you help bring their vision to life on the weekend.

  • Stewards: Kids Ministry volunteers — you lead, schedule, and care for the serving team.

  • Decision pathway: You own the operational execution of Kids Ministry; vision and major direction sit with the Kids Ministry Pastors. When clarity is needed, you have direct relational access — structure never blocks communication.

07 Rhythm & Wellness

The Heart pillar — because staff are part of the mission, not a means to it.

  • The rhythm: Sundays are the anchor, with weekday preparation and occasional evenings or special events. Sunday-morning availability is essential.

  • The honest word: This is meaningful work that asks for your whole heart — and NorthRock is committed to stewarding your health, your family rhythms, and your growth in return. Burnout is not celebrated here.

We move at the speed of trust. Sustainability before speed.

08 Formation & Growth

The Growth pillar — you’ll be invested in, not just deployed.

  • Regular shepherding and development from the Kids Ministry Pastors.

  • Clarity on your gifting and growth through the Heart / Calling / Growth rhythm and the 90-Day Review.

  • Real investment in your leadership over time.

Healthy people build healthy ministry.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, able to manage many moving parts with excellence.
